Hi, I’m Nadia, so happy you stopped by!

I’m a journalist, editor and writer who’s from South Africa, and lives in Brooklyn, NY. In between work hours, I am learning how to be a good-enough mom to a baby girl, and running the streets of NYC—training for marathons, and for life itself.

[Read this part if you’d like to know a bit more about me.]

Over a decade ago, I moved to New York City from South Africa, on the hope and the dream of interviewing Meryl Streep over lunch one day. While I have indeed met and interviewed Ms Streep, living and working in NYC has given me far more to be grateful for than having the three-time Oscar-winner call me her new best friend (still, I count it among my finest achievements!)

After creating the position of arts and entertainment journalist for Eyewitness News, in South Africa, I wanted to move to New York, so initiated another new role, that of the news network's US correspondent. For 8 years I reported on stories with a global impact from here in the US, including Occupy Wall Street, the re-election of Barack Obama, and the #MeToo movement. This has fueled my interest in social justice issues, leading me to write about people like disability rights activist Judy Heumann and Olympic runner Caster Semenya.

While I’ve covered, and continue to cover, the Academy Awards, the Grammy Awards, the Cannes, Sundance and Toronto Film Festivals, and have interviewed everyone from Oprah to J.Lo, Tom Cruise to Forest Whitaker, it’s what this passion has led me to that makes me more than just a "professional namedropper."

My passion and love for film has shown me how important and game-changing good story-telling can be, especially when it comes to shaping people’s views on social matters. Identifying and amplifying the people and the leaders, as well as the groups and organizations, behind ideas that fuel new ways of thinking and addressing social issues is something I never tire of.

As a freelancer, I write for leading American and South African media outlets: from The Hollywood Reporter to Billboard, Deadline, Quartz and Glamour, as well as the Mail & Guardian, the Sunday Times, Forbes Africa and more. In my spare-time, I edit and proof-read scripts and pitch-decks for aspiring filmmakers, looking to draw out resonant themes. That is, when I’m not running marathons and trying to get faster and stronger! And, as of March 2022, I’ve added new mom to my roles—and I am thrilled for that!
